Tooley's dictionary of mapmakers, 1999-2004---vol. 4, p. 150 (Seutter, Matthäus the elder [1678-c.1757] Engraver, globe maker and map publisher of Augsburg. Apprenticed to Homann 1697, engraved for Wolf. He set up his own map publishing house which became a competitor of the Homann company. He was Imperial Geographer by Karl IV in 1731. His business passed to T. C. Lotter)
