Tooley's dictionary of mapmakers, 1999-2004---vol. 2, p. 361 (Homann, Johann Baptist [Baptista] (1664-1724). Self-taught copper engraver from Oberkammlach near Mindelheim, Schwabia. Engraver for David Funk, Jacob von Sandrart and others from the early 1690s, then founded his own cartographic and publishing establishment in 1702. By 1707 he was compiling his own atlases. He became geographer to the Holy Roman Emperor in 1715, and was member of the Prussian Royal Academie of Sciences)
